Section 207 of the 1998 Amendments to Higher Education
Act of 1965 includes new accountability measures in the form of
reporting requirements for institutions and states on teacher preparation
and licensure. It is the intent of the legislation to create a comparative
date base that allows the measurement of success of teacher education
programs and state efforts to improve teacher quality.
