" As the new Associate Dean in the Beeghly College of Education in the Fall of 2000, I worked closely with Interim Dean Edwards to form the first student advisory council in the college. One of my goals two years later when I was appointed Dean was to continue and expand the role of this important student group. THE DEAN'S DOZEN, as I decided to call this group when I became Dean, became a reality that first year. THE DEAN'S DOZEN is composed of graduate and undergraduate students in the Beeghly College of Education who wish to provide service to the college, their fellow students, and the professional community. Interested students submit an application or are nominated by members of the Beeghly College of Education faculty. An attempt is made to select a "dozen" that represents the range of programs in the college. Individuals selected for service become ambassadors for the college at various functions but also serve as a sounding board for me regarding student concerns. Students are encouraged to contact one of THE DEAN'S DOZEN members listed to the right with issues and ideas related to improving the operation of their programs and the college. The members will bring your concerns and suggestions to our meetings for review, discussion, and action. Perhaps you would like to be considered for selection as one of THE DEAN'S DOZEN. If so, click on the first link provided below to view a job summary for this important student position. The job summary includes the typical tasks and duties as well as the qualifications interested students must meet to be considered. If becoming a member of THE DEAN'S DOZEN seems something right for you and the college, or if you need more information, send an email to or visit with my Associate Dean or Administrative Assistant. They will review with you the qualifications to make sure you are eligible and tell you how to go about submitting an official application. Links to reach them (as well as myself) are provided below the Job Summary Link. I hope you decide to participate in helping our college to become better, either by becoming a member of THE DEAN'S DOZEN yourself or by channeling your ideas through them."
